Fleetwood has been trying to have a baby to bring her husband Richard an heir but losing her babies before they can be born. She's now discovered her doctor thinks she will not survive another pregnancy herself but she is pregnant. This novel follows her as she tries to survive pregnancy with the help of a mysterious lady who says she is a midwife but other accuse of being a witch.
I really enjoyed this novel, having purchased and read it before I read The Foundling, having won it on here. The front cover is absolutely beautiful and the story is so intriguing I managd to read it in only two sittings without realising. I was only a little sad by the ending but it was more realistic than I had hoped for so that's just me being too hopeful for the perfect ending! Loved it overall.
