I thought this was a wonderful story based around the 1612 Pendle Witch Trials. I like that it is also based on true facts, people and places of that time. It is beautifully written and very atmospheric, I felt the tension building as the story continued towards to trials. I loved the characters especially Fleetwood who grew with strength and was willing to fight for what she believed in. I also enjoyed the friendship that Fleetwood and Alice had. I felt sorry for Fleetwood, she is in a difficult position and this story made me realise how little power women had during this time.
This book is quick paced and I was engaged throughout. I would recommend this to anyone who loves historical fiction.
