I bought this book after seeing it on TikTok and being amazed by the cover. It took me a few chapters to get into it but once I got in I couldn't put it down. I loved the writing and it made me want to skip to the end to make sure Fleetwood and Alice were okay! I loved the map at the beginning - all the best books have those-and the book was so interesting it made me go and conduct my own research on the trials. I fell in love with this book, the characters and the scenery, and at every chance I get I recommend it to my friends. I really enjoyed the plot of this book and I felt at times like I was in it, feeling all the emotions of the characters. Was definitely a very engaging read, and despite initially struggling to get into it I read it in about 2 days! It is the first book I have read by Stacey Halls and won't be the last. I'm just waiting now for the plot to leave my memory so I can go back and read it again!!
