I thoroughly enjoyed this. I'm not usually a fan of historical fiction but I was drawn to this as it is set in Lancashire where I live. Although the book is fictional it is based on characters who really did exist, and the Lancashire witch trials which really did happen. Although I am aware of these trials I don't know a lot about them, but this book has sparked an interest and I hope to find out more and visit Gawthorpe Hall too.
The main character, Fleetwood is a strong young woman who I really came to care about and I enjoyed reading about her friendship with Alice, and the trust and belief she felt for her.
The book cover is beautiful. It would certainly make me pick up the book and makes it the perfect gift.
