Upon reading this book I was just captivated. You get drawn into Fleetwoods world and life in 1612. The mannerisms of the how people and life was in that era, from the way people dressed and presented themselves to the way one spoke. And it is just an incredible story about a young girl of 17 who is fighting to survive not just for herself and her unborn child but a 'poor' woman that she ends up befriending. I could not put it down and was mesmerized by the history and detail that was beautifully written on every page. Stacey Halls manages to write the horrors of how the poor lived to the wonders of the wealthy while still telling a gripping story of a young woman and her journey. Would recommend this to anyone who loves a period novel or a true female hero.
