I read this book a few weeks ago and im still recommending it to everyone I meet. it really is a fabulous book.
First of all, I loved the character Fleetwood. I don't think she was a perfect person, but that's what I love in a story. we get to see their faults and flaws, and we definitely do. but all the more, I love her relationship and connection with Alice, and her defiant belief in her character.
This book is set in the setting of the Pendle Witch trial, and is called the Familiars because it goes into detail about what a familiar is (think of Pullman's Daemon in His Dark Material). I loved the background of this story because is is real, and it happened. I think she gives a great voice to both Fleetwood and Alice, and gives justice to their stories.
