The year might have just started but this is now the book to beat for 'favourite book of 2019'. The book perfectly captures the history surrounding the Lancaster witch trials, the pendle witches and the unfortunate circumstances women of the time often found themselves in during the 17th century.
The main character Fleetwood is intriguing from the begining and the relationships she has with those around her including (and most interestingly) her midwife who finds herself in a terrible situation send you on an emotional rollercoaster you can't help becoming invested in.
Beautifully written to keep you hooked from the very first time you turn the page there is no shortage of twists and turns to keep you reading.
If you are a fan of strong, multi-faceted characters, history and witches you will love this book!
