I saw this book recommended at my local library so I rented it but knew nothing about it of the author Stacey Halls.
Wow! What a great read! It is based loosely on real characters from the 17th century and The Pendle Hill Witch trials. I found it really interesting the way that the King & government labelled any wise woman as a witch.
I found it engrossing as I love historical books & stories about witches. It may take some people a while to get into as the writing & wording is old fashioned but I loved it!
I really enjoyed watching the relationship grow between the 2 main female characters Fleetwood & Alice and read as they have to work their way through all the challenges that develop around them.
Fleetwood grows from a young naïve young girl to a baby-maker to a strong woman who finds her voice and is determined to get answers for the injustices her friend has had placed on her.
