The year is 1612 and Fleetwood Shuttleworth is pregnant for the fourth time. Hoping this time that she will give birth to a healthy baby, she enlists the help of a young midwife, Alice, who by chance she crossed paths with.
Alice is accused of witchcraft, and with the Pendle Witch trials nearing, it is down to Fleetwood to save the life of the only person who can save her & her unborn child.
I love a good historical story & this doesn't disappoint.
Initially, I was shocked that Fleetwood was married so young, but quickly remembered that it wasn't an unusual occurance centuries ago!
It also touches on how easily women were accused of being witches, and sent to the hangman's rope; with no proof other than word of mouth.

Stacey Halls first debut book that is written wonderfully, and you can absolutely picture being back in the 17th century, living with the fear of being wrongly accused.
