Can we speak about the cover? It is stunning and the small intricacies lead me to think about Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tales.

The story is set in the 1700s and back then witchcraft was a serious offence to be charged with. Fleetwood, the feminine character, had already 2 miscarriages and the prospective of another one made her husband Richard fear that they will not have an heir.

The historic set reminds us about times when many women were charged with witchcraft and handling dark magic. Alice steps into the story, as a common midwife, trying to help Fleetwood to go against odds and deliver successfully the third pregnancy. Meanwhile, her help and promise will be seen as attempt to perform dark magic.

Overall it was an interesting story.
