Oh this book was wonderful.
A perfect autumnal read made for reading whilst curled up on the sofa hiding from the miserable weather outside.
We follow a woman who is at hopes end having had 3 miscarriages and is convinced that neither she nor the baby will survive her current and fourth pregnancy. She is a desperate woman in desperate circumstances who chooses to put her faith in a witch and her herbs. Alice becomes a good friend to the woman.
Through all of this there are investigations happening into supposed witches which puts everything under a even harsher spotlight.
This was captivating and heartbreaking. I felt for all the characters and felt myself hoping that nothing bad would come to them
