Ada to put not too fine a point on it is a snob. Her stepfather was landed gentry he had the pedigree the big house but not the money. Her mother before she met her husband was just an ordinary girl who made a mistake and had an a daughter out of wedlock. Ada would love to be her stepfather's real daughter and never fits in anywhere, so when she gets the chance to go to on a modern day Grand Tour of Italy she jumps at the chance to be with her sort of people (privileged rich) to try to become the person she feels she should have been.

She joins the group in Venice which certainly comes to life on the page. Everything is set up for a great story which I would really enjoy I'm sure.
