This first impression is pacey, it starts with drama - the sale of her ‘family’ home in Wales, the death of her father albeit not her real father who seems to have died on a mysterious incident in Swansea. How did he die? How has that impacted Ada? From Wales to London, from London to Italy setting the scene of a misplaced individual desperate to fine home. I think the book will become a little slower as we progress into it, but I do hope we will draw back to the family home in Wales and that the sense of Hiraeth set up in the first few pages will develop.
