So I have to be honest, when I first started this book I didn't like it at all. I found the first chapter so pretentious, with a main character who isn't very likeable. I also consider myself to be quite well-educated but I didn't know what half of the words meant, and I get that the main protagonist is meant to be posh and probably speaks in this way, but I felt like there needed to be footnotes at the bottom of each page with definitions of some of the words, not something I expect from a fictional thriller book.

However, I carried on and was pleasantly surprised that I did! ... until I got to the second part when, again, there was something about it which just didn't grip me so I decided to read something else then come back to it. And I felt like that was the theme that continued with the rest of the book; I loved it and then I didn't.

The book is divided into three parts and the third part was definitely the best. There was a shocking twist which I wasn't expecting but even after finishing the book it doesn't really feel concluded? I wonder if there's going to be a follow-up; if not then the whole book feels a little pointless...

A very strange sort of thriller.
