The Favour is Laura Vaughan's first adult book, it follows the story of Ada Howell from Wales trying to fit in with the upper end of society. Her adoptive dad dies leaving her without much. But how is she to achieve fitting in, her godmother provides her support by helping to fund a trip to Italy with other teenagers. However, things take a turn. Ada is kind of hard to like as a character as she has her flaws and seems to be really scheming but I think that just adds to the mystery. The writing style is really nice, there is a lot of detail similar of that to Donna Tart as there is a lot of description about buildings and art. Sending to me to Italy on the trip as well. The slow burn of events adds to the atmosphere of the book. It was a real page turner as I needed more of the story as it was written really well I was able to speed through it. This is just a really good mystery and I really recommend it!
