The thing I loved most about this book was Ada, the narrator and main character. For me, she is one of those unreliable narrators that you don't know whether to trust or not. She makes the book intriguing. Set over the span of a decade or so, we see Ada struggle to find her place in the world, surrounded by people who seem to have their lives sorted. She never quite fits in. The age-old story of trying to find yourself, while also trying to fit in, reaches a climax when on a gap-year trip, surrounded by people a lot more well-off than she is, something tragic happens. We see Ada behave in a way many of us would, but which we find to be reprehensible. I both loved and hated her throughout. Vaughan creates characters that are so intrinsically human, all with flaws and redemptions. I wish the book would have gone into more detail about certain life events, I think this way there would have been more of a connection between the characters. However, I would definitely recommend this book. A great, quick read for those who love a thriller.
