I thought this was a very slow book and not much happens in the first half. The second half is slightly better the pace picks up and I was intrigued to find out where it was going. I was disappointed with the plot I thought that the conclusion felt quite underwhelming. I also had a problem with some of the characters. I don’t know why Oliver hated Ada so much, it wasn’t obvious to me and felt very false and unrealistic. I have read The Secret History by Donna Tarte and this novel has a very similar theme . However I did enjoy some of the history and did want to read it to the end because I needed to know what happened . I thought that the title The Favour came up too much in the book and became obvious. I think the book focuses on privilege and I felt that Ada needed to belong somewhere and was trying to find her way and make friends with someone in that circle. All in all it was an ok read .
