Ada is an awkward outsider, who is mourning the loss of a life of privilege she has only tasted through her family history, and failing time after time to fit in the rich society she lives in. Her godmother offers to pay for her to take a gap year and travel to Italy to study its history and art. She, of course, agrees as she believes it's a chance to find herself.

The protagonist, Ada, is not very likable. I was waiting for a character development, but I'm not quite sure we, as the readers, got one. At times, she felt a little too entitled and dismissive, nevertheless, I could still enjoy the story through her point of view.

I liked the way the narrative flowed, providing an interesting read. I also liked how the books was divided into three parts: Trompe l’Oeil, I Trionfi and Pentimento.

Overall, it is a goof thriller book you might pick up when you are bored.
