This is the story of someone looking and wanting to fit in. Ada goes on a cultural trip to Venice (somewhere I would love to go) and she becomes in love with the city and its culture and the people there. We as the readers are taken on this journey with her and witness the sights through Adas eyes. We also get to learn about the history behind certain artworks and it is all really quite interesting.
The title is quite ominous, The Favour, and we learn what this actually stands for later on in the book. When a crime is committed in the city and Ada has the opportunity to I grain herself into the Dilettante group even further, she feels like they owe her which begins this favour.
I enjoyed reading this book, a good fiction read and I look forward to seeing more by this author. The cover was what drew me in and I stayed for the well written story underneath it.
