The author makes a very good job at describing a set of very unlikeable characters. The protagonist can be at first excused as a young selfish teenager. However, the years go buy and she continues set on trying to fit in a world where she has to constantly pretend to be someone who she is not. The story makes you want to continue reading as it creates enough intrugue to find out whether they will get away with a crime. I won't spell out the ending, but it is both surprising and expected of a character who goes to extreme lengths to be part of a society of money and appearances. The book has a really good pace with simple yet entertaining prose. It also helps that the two main settings of the story are so familiar: London and Italy. The author does describe Italy and it's art with accuracy, and she actually echoes my feelings over some of these places.
