I love the cover of this; so rich and decadent, much like a lot of the story. Ada leaves her imposing family home, Garreg Las complete with ha ha to be a student in Italy with Dilettanti discoveries. I enjoyed being transported to Italy with her in her journey; from the cafes and museums to the tombs and romantic cobbled streets. It felt vibrant and cosmopolitan and I could feel myself there through the vivid descriptions. There she meets peers on her course, she wants very much to fit in and be wanted but they are rather hard to get in with and be accepting of her. The marketing material for Dilettanti suggests they will be comrades in the same great adventure, but, that adventure takes a different turn when tragedy strikes and they are bound by a secret. We then start to see bitterness resentment and twisted behaviour. Overall an enjoyable read.
