If you’re in need of a light, uplifting read then The Flatshare is the book for you. It’s mostly a very easy read but (TW) it does touch on abuse, stalking, and relatives in prison.

I was initially drawn to the plot line of two people sharing a flat (and a bed) but have never met before. I liked the idea of a light story that would be a welcome break from some of the heavier themed books I tend to gravitate towards. As expected, the plot line was quite predictable from the very beginning but had some unexpected depths to the main characters.

I really enjoyed reading the post-it notes sent between Leon and Tiffy, showing how two people can communicate in a traditionally romantic way in modern times.

I wouldn’t say this was a very groundbreaking book and I probably wouldn’t leap to read it again. As contemporary romance novels go, this was perfectly lovely and inevitably gave me good feelings about life. Perhaps a book to use as a break for your brain rather than a must read.
