The Flatshare is a stunning debut novel that has taken the book community by storm. Beth O’Leary is an author who knows her audience and knows how to craft characters that endear themselves to the reader. As a result, our protagonists, Tiffy and Leon, feel true throughout the book, and you root for them the entire way.

The premise of the Flatshare is a brilliant one - Leon has no need for his flat at night, as he works night shifts. Tiffy works 9-5 and needs somewhere new to live - and so it begins, a love story that unfurls through post it notes and leftovers.

One thing that startled me with this book is how well and realistically Beth wrote about emotional abuse - those sections (no spoilers) really moved me whilst I was reading, and I found myself reeling when I finished the book - I loved the ending but the build up to it made me quite emotional.

This is a wonderfully written love story with extra depth.
