The Flatshare is a cute and quirky story about Tiffy and Leon who share a flat (and a bed!) but have never actually met each other. Tiffy has the flat in the evenings and at weekends as Leon works night shifts, and Leon has the flat in the day.

BUT this is so much more than a cute romance - Tiffy has a creepy ex, Leon has a girlfriend, Leon's brother has been wrongly imprisoned for an armed robbery and is trying to appeal his conviction, and Leon is trying to reunite one of his patients with a lover whom he had during the war. I found the storyline completely unique and intriguing.

I absolutely loved the two main characters of Tiffy and Leon. Tiffy is so quirky and endearing in many ways and O'Leary portrays the struggles that Tiffy has with her ex extremely emotionally. Leon is also a bit of an oddball - quite closed off and reserved, but clearly a very caring guy. The subplots involving Leon's brother and some of Leon's patients are perfect to demonstrate this.

O'Leary's writing style is so easy to read; it's descriptive and emotive but also has a lightness and slight humour to it. It was perfect for me - a great book to dip in and out of to escape from the real world! I would highly recommend this book - I loved it so much that I teared up when it ended - 5/5!
