The Flatshare has been on my radar for a while now and is one of the books on my 21 eBooks to read in 2021. When the audio version popped up I decided to give it a try. I have to say this was one of the best narrations I’ve listened to so far. Carrie and Kwaku had me laughing from the first chapter and I didn’t stop! Their delivery of the humour was on point and I honestly felt like I was listening to Tiffy and Leon, I also loved the special effects used on the telephone calls.

Whilst this was a fun and humorous listen the book did tackle some heavy topics such as abuse and wrongful imprisonment. I thought these elements, particularly Richie’s story gave the book a darker angle. I loved Richie’s character and thought his story was very interesting.

Gertie, Mo and Rachel were an epic team! Between the three of them they packed everything Tiffy needed in her life; someone to listen, make her laugh and to put her straight. With friends like them how can a girl not succeed? They were the perfect support and showed the true meaning of friendship!

I adored Tiffy’s style and personality. She was fun, brave and candid, I can’t imagine moving into a flat and sharing a bed with a complete stranger! I couldn’t understand how anyone could of treated her how Justin did but this added story showed a different side to Tiffy. She never had a problem with admitting when she was wrong but she became blind to Justin’s behaviour. The effect he had on her really showed the extent of the trauma and how deep rooted it was. Leon was an absolute sweetheart! His reaction when Tiffy moved in was brilliant and I admired the job he did. There’s something very rewarding about helping people but his search for JW showed how much his patients and their stories meant to him.

Tiffy and Leon’s story had a predictable side to it but there were plenty of twists along the way. The post it notes and funny voicemails all brought together a cute, carefree image of what they would be like as a couple. They had a chemistry that was undeniable before they even met each other and when they did meet it was hilarious! I was rooting for them not just as a couple but as individuals too. They were flawed but relatable and easy to love.

If you’re after a light hearted, fun and chucklesome read then this is the book for you!
