There are two reasons for not finishing this book. Firstly, I work in children's palliative care and I struggled massively with the lack of research behind that part of the storyline in this book. It was very disappointing. Although this wasn't the main storyline, it was significant to me and needed more sensitive handling and background research.
Secondly, the narrative voice for the male character was choppy and bizarre, consistently. I struggled to get to know Leon or understand why his narrative was presented in this way.
I recognise I am in the minority in disliking this book but then most readers don't have my experience in a context that was kind of butchered. Just stroll on by my review.
