I would always turn to contemporary fiction when I need to escape and this book didn’t disappoint.

Although it is slightly predictable in that the two characters who had never met although they live together will eventually bump into each other and both need each other in their lives, this doesn’t distract from a lovely easy to read story.

The two characters Tiffy who works during the day and needs somewhere to live after a break up finds a one bedroom flat to share with Leon who works nights as a carer. Tiffy moves her belongings in and the pair communicate via notes. Leon worries about his brother Richie in prison and tells Tiffy who in turn tells her friend Gertie a barrister. Tiffy has her own problems caused by her ex boyfriend who she tells Leon all about.

After an embarrassing first meeting the pair arrange to help Leon track down a friend of a resident in the care home who he had lost touch with and start to spend time together.

The book looks at friendships old and new, and the relationships beginning and ending and the difficulties of moving on and the effect moving on has.

I enjoyed the book as it had a feel good story behind it.
