“You’ll never be in at the same time - the flat will be yours from six in the evening until eight in the morning in the week, and over the whole weekend. It’s a six month agreement for now. Is that OK with you?”

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5 stars

Tiffy and Leon share a bed, they’ve also never met. Tiffy has fallen on hard times, being unceremoniously kicked out by her now ex boyfriend and in a job that doesn’t seem to be going anywhere, she can’t afford her own place and won’t accept her friends handouts. Being at a loss of what to do she is forced to accept a flat share that costs a lot less than normal but comes with some strange rules. Tiffy will have the flat every week day evening and over the whole weekend, while Leon, a night shift worker, has the flat during the day to sleep in. The set up is strange but both Leon and Tiffy have no idea how their flat share will change both their lives for the better.

Now I know I’m late to the party with this one but I finally got round to reading this and... I really enjoyed it! The two main characters were well developed, a great balance of being flawed while still being likeable. The book was predictable in places but it didn’t take away any enjoyment. Plus it brought up some more serious issues that I’ve not seen in many rom-com books. The only thing I could say is the premise it’s pretty unrealistic, while it creates an interesting situation between the two main characters I just can’t see it happening in real life. Plus having just worked nights Leon deals with being nocturnal far too easily.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, I read it over a set of night shifts and it was the perfect amount of comfort read and page turner to keep me going. I definitely want to get the rest of Beth O’Learys books and will be ordering The Switch and The Road Trip as soon as possible! I give The Flat Share 4/5 stars.
