“Being nice is a good thing. You can be strong and nice. You don’t have to be one or the other.”
I finished this over a week ago but I’m still not over it! This is why it’s taken me so long to write my review, I just can’t put into words how I feel about this book.
The Flatshare follows Tiffy and Leon as they start sharing not only a flat, but a bed, yet they’ve never even met. They talk through post it notes left across the flat which I just loved. I couldn’t tell you which character is my favourite, I love them both the same in different ways. I love Tiffy and her originality, and the way she grows on her journey. Leon is just such a kind soul, who will put himself out for the kindness of others.
What I really loved about this book is that it feels like such a lighthearted entertaining read, yet it still covered serious issues such as gaslighting and emotional abuse in a meaningful, effective way.
This book is the first in a long time where I actually had to stop reading because I didn’t want it to end, but at the same time I needed to read to know what happened next. I didn’t want this to end, and am already looking forward to Beth O’Leary’s new book The Switch. If you haven’t read it already (I was a little behind on this one tbh!) I fully recommend you add it next on your TBR!
