Oh my goodness! This is by far the best book I have read this year. It is hard to believe that this is O'Leary's debut novel and I cannot wait to follow all of her future publications.
Both Tiffy and Leon are such perfect characters, both lovable and hilariously funny and I loved that we got to see both of their perspectives in alternating chapters throughout the novel and how even down to their chapter style in how it was written was so true to the characters; Leon mainly portrayed in short, precise sentences whereas Tiffy's chapters were often longer and I definitely sensed some Bridget Jones vibes. All of the supporting characters were well padded out too so you felt that you knew them, rather than them purely being used to move the plot along.
This book made me laugh, made me cry and made me feel warm and cosy. I cannot wait to reread this again and again. It is so much more than a standard woman's fiction book and touches on PTSD, emotional abuse, gaslighting and wrongful convictions without ever getting too dark and I truly am so thankful that Beth O'Leary had this published.
Although all opinions are my own, I would like to thank Readers First and Quercus for an advance copy.
