A man who forges signatures in old books is found murdered, and his sister’s boyfriend is coincidentally also a forger. Some nice similes and metaphors, especially if you like birds, and the distinctive literary voice of a man who thinks most highly of himself, which can be entertaining to read if that sort of thing tickles you. Not quite thrilling yet, but it could be an interesting insight into the secret world of the forgers (who are much less skilled than the narrator, of course, but all the same).
