What an opening line! It definitely makes the reader continue. However the pages are long prose with no paragraphs to break up the text, which is disengaging and difficult to read. This is not helped by the excessive almost second person like narrative whereby the reader is given a summary of the conversation that entailed rather than reads every word spoken by the character. It's a shame because the story has so much potential. I ended up skimming the extract. Though enjoying the story, I hope the rest of the book isn't written like that... Though it probably will be.
