This is a suspense novel set in the world of high end book selling. It starts, They never found his hands... and describes the murder of book collector and recluse Adam, from the point of view of his soon to be brother in law, a convicted forger of literary signatures and ephemera.

The two men’s lives have been intertwined, not just through the relationship with Adam’s sister, Meghan, but through their involvement in the seamy literary underworld, where adulterated manuscripts sell for hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Despite the killer first line the book was a little slow to get started for me, but the story soon had me gripped, with letters in the hands of literary greats arriving to threaten and disrupt the new life that Meghan and Will are trying to build in the wake of Adam’s death. The temptation to repeat previous crimes, promises not to be broken, friends who may not be all they seem and secrets that will never be revealed, this book has it all. If you’re a fan of suspense or interested in the world of book dealing, this is a great read.
