I wanted to love this - it's ideal for those who love books and reading (and collecting early editions) but I found it very difficult to care about the narrator or indeed any of the other characters in the novel.

The tale unfolds with the compelling premise of an unsolved murder of a (potential) professional forger, and the plot gradually reveals the "big reveal", albeit it was relatively predictable from the start as there were no other real suspects other than the narrator.

The setting is well-done (I enjoyed the leading couple's move to Ireland and how they attempt to resettle away from past dramas) but I missed any real character arc and some of the events struck me as preposterous.

However, there are some lovely sections about books, first editions and those who love the book world. Made me want to collect first editions of the classics myself.
