This book should have been a quick read; only 240 pages and (supposedly) about a grisly murder in the book world. Instead, it opened on the first page with a graphic, intriguing, murder, which didn’t really get mentioned again until around page 50. By this point, I had already taken to skimming and jumping large chucks of pages, something which I had planned to do up until the end, As I had received a free copy in exchange for a review, but ultimately I just couldn’t bring myself to struggle through.

This book is actually about a self-involved narrator who was very intelligent but had no real personality to incline me to like him as a character. The same goes for the deceased. All in all, there was no character that really interested me. Nor did the storyline, it was clearly well researched, but this was not in its favour, the book became a verbal diarrhoea of novel and writer based trivia. It was all fact and no action.
