'The Forgers' by Bradford Morrow is classified as a suspense thriller and it certainly fits the brief, but not as you would expect and would find in a typical thriller read.
For a bibliophile the cover is a delight, you can almost smell the aging pages - would wouldn't want to pick it up for a peak inside?
This book is an amalgamation of forgery, threats, secrets and murder - but it's a 'quiet' narrative - so don't expect too much pacing.
It's also a (well-researched) glimpse into the rare book collectors and sellers world - and it hosts a slow-burn mystery over carefully written pages. You do have to engage with the central character and go with the heavily constructed narrative that never rushes to make the most of this book.
I would have personally liked some more 'action' and development of the murder to really hook me in, and to cement it's thriller mystery genre.
