This is a story set in the world of rare book trading, in particular the forging of autographs/inscriptions in rare books. It starts very well and pulls you in - there is a gruesome murder and a haunting simile, comparing a pair of severed hands to a pair of wings.
I thought the scene was set and I was reading a fast-paced crime thriller, but as I read on it became more of a character study into what secrets and bad decisions can do to a person, and how hard it is to escape them.
There is definitely a crime whodunnit plot throughout the book too and the conclusion of that was a surprise to me which speaks to either how well written it is or how unperceptive I am!
On the whole I enjoyed it, it's a short book and if it was longer then the pace may have seemed to drag a little but as it is, it's fine. It was a view into an interesting world and some well drawn characters.
