This one really wasn’t what I was expecting at all! From the cover, I imagined a slow burn, maybe historical fiction kind of story! There are elements of everything in here but it’s definitely a lot bolder and a lot darker than I figured it would be!
The characterisation was done really well, I empathised with characters and hated others - I felt like the author gave enough for me to make up my own opinions about them but some traits were very prominent and hard to move past! Altogether I thought most of them were there for good reasons and helped to move the plot along too!
The twists and turns were very intriguing here, nothing shocked me completely but there was enough to keep me guessing throughout and I really enjoyed the end result! I will have to pick up more by the author in the future and let people know that this one isn’t what it looks to be!
