After reading a few romances, I was in the mood for changing things up and reading a good mystery. I decided to read The Forgers and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Despite the book being quite short in length, it was the perfect afternoon read and allowed me to escape to a completely different world, or rather the familiar world of books, with a slightly different edge. I loved the imagery of the cover, reminding me of rare, antique books carefully protected and maintained, something I felt was perfect for the book and the storyline.

The story gives an insight into book collecting and the ways in which forgery of rare books happens, which was something I hadn’t previously read before. From the front cover, I was expecting something that wouldn’t be very fast paced, however I felt the narrative moved at the right speed and was quite enjoyable. I loved the added details about books, including the collecting and forging, alongside the darker, more thrilling themes of the story line.

I felt I could connect to the characters in this book and that the storyline was believable, rather than being something I could guess from early one. It certainly kept me guessing and I really did enjoy reading this one!

I would recommend this to anyone interested in book collecting or looking for a mystery that is a little different or shorter than the usual types, and I will be looking out for more for Bradford in the future! Thank you to Readers First, Atlantic Books and Bradford Morrow for providing me with this arc in exchange for my fair and honest review.
