The first line in itself - 'They never found his hands' - draws you in completely. The book spends no time waiting around, it jumps straight into action and does so effectively. The amount of unanswered questions from the start immerses readers into the storyline and therefore makes it hard to stop. The vivid imagery and hauntingly beautiful writing and setting distinguishes the book from normal thrillers. Not to mention the unique storyline of the book where the the world is set in the world of literature. You can definitely see the dark aspects of the story from the first few pages. This seems to be a compelling read!

The cover of the book is unique in it's own way which makes it all the more appealing. However, I don't know how inclined I'd be to pick this up of the shelf as the cover doesn't give much hints about the book being a thriller. But the blurb seems to give all the information you need about the plot.
