I found the first impression a little difficult to get into. It didn’t flow well me for me and I either wasn’t interested enough or invested enough but I found myself distracted reading it.
Never read the familiars so it might just be a style of writing that’s not for me.
I am still intrigued though and have a feeling it will improve as you read on. It’s a book I’d pick up
