I was really impressed with Stacey Halls debut, The Familiars, and her brilliant characterisation of protagonist Fleetwood Shuttleworth.
The FI for her new novel propels the reader back in time to Georgian London and all the emotion of being in the Foundling Hospital and characters who feel real enough to care about.
On the basis of the FI this looks to an immersive, skilfully researched novel and the question of how the two main characters stories converge ties it all together.
