The cover is beautiful, much like the cover for The Familiars. I love a well designed book cover, it really invites the reader in.
From the first impression this novel shows such promise. I want to know more about Bess and how she got in her situation, and whether she will be reunited with her baby in the future. What an awful situation to find yourself in.
The descriptions of London are atmospheric and reminiscent of Dickens. You can almost smell the fish market and the squalor of London at that time.
The prose flows so smoothly and draws the reader in. I'd love to read more.
