As stunning as Halls’ debut The Familiars, the first chapter is emotive, evocative and painful! I was instantly drawn in by the main protagonist Bess and her plight as we are introduced to a clear and well depicted setting of London’s Foundling hospital in 18th century London. An immersive chapter that pulls the reader within the pages, The Foundling is every bit likely to be an incredible read and I can’t wait to continue on Bess’ journey and find out where Halls will take us. I’m sure, based on her prior writing, that the story will be every bit the emotional rollercoaster it appears to be!
