Heart wrenching yet engaging
Immediately, I felt the raw, impassioned emotions of the lead character. Her despair, and her strength, are palpible. The author has created a character we can empathise with, and who we want to get to know more about. Giving up a child is something most of us have never had to do, and the author allows us to understand why someone might need to. There's no judgement, just intrigue as to how she ended up where she did, and I really want to know more.
She doesn't come across as a victim, she is strong and hardworking but has been dealt some tough hands. I think I'd like her.
