The story started with poor Bess having to give away Clara when she was a day old. It was written sympathetically with a great deal of detail that meant I could see the sas picture of the Foundlings hospital. It must have been so tough and this poured off the page.
I am really interested to see how Bess's story, and that of Ned and the rest of her family, develops.
