Eye-catching & attractive cover with intriguing title & subject matter in an era not often covered! (Usually it’s 1800s onwards). Sorry I got to the end of the sample as wanted to know what happens & learn more of the era; which you can tell has been minutely researched in the descriptions of the people and how they live etc. Is certainly a winner with me! Made me want to read the authors previous book ‘Familiars’ now too! Greatly enjoyed; (Especially as an avid watcher of “Call the Midwife” which is also a snap shot of Mother’s & families affected by poverty & societies demands.) Thank you.
