Another fantastic read from Stacey Halls. Having just read The Familiars and having loved it I was eagerly looking forward to this. The novel does not disappoint.
Hall's descriptions of rich and poor seen from the perspective of working class Bess are vivid to say the least. Immediately our senses are loaded with the sights, sounds and smells of the city.
Like The Familiars we have a young woman as narrator. It was easy to relate to Bess and her situation. She is a great heroine. Streetwise but full of humanity.
Enjoy!
