What a powerful, evocative start to what looks like being an emotional roller coaster of a read! The language is hauntingly beautiful, the early pages convey a convincing sense of time and place, the characters already seem vibrant and credible and I'm sure that the themes promised in the synopsis will provide some thought-provoking narrative.
