On the day that Bess gives birth to her daughter, she gives her up to the foundling hospital with the promise that she will get her back again when she can afford to. However, when she does return to reclaim her daughter she's informed that she already has collected her, just a day after giving her up. This is the story of her trying to find out what happened to her daughter, and attempting to get her back.
I absolutely adored this book. The front cover is just beautiful and then the inner page and map are amazing. I felt so strongly for Bess and was routing for her through the whole novel. I was actually really sad to finish this book, I didn't want to end. I will definitely be re-reading it in the future.
